Angry Beavers move into First Place .

When Veteran players Pat Burnell and Justin Knecht defected from the Ams Indians to form a new KWl team, speculation was on this new teams pitching staff. How would an all rookie pitching staff perform early in the season? If the Beavers got off to a bad start, they could find themselves fighting hard back up the tough NL standings to try to make the playoffs. The start of the season was very important for the Beavers to put themselves in position to be chased instead of chasing and that is exactly what they are doing!

In the first three weeks of this 2008 season, the Beavers have only dropped one game; 0-3 to the Indians. Heading into this past week, the Beavers schedule had them playing versus the then nationally ranked third place Gentlemen.

As the wind gusted out of Flesher West, the Beavers certainly had thier handsful to keep the Gentlemen off the scoreboard. Team ace, Evan Visuri, started game one and pitched like a possible Cy Wiffle hopeful. Evan held the Gents to one hit over 5 innings and his Beavers mercied the slugging Gentlemen 11-0 in game one.

Game two featured many lead changes before the Beavers slugged out a 12-16 win. Sweeping the Gentlemen for the first time in their Franchise history!

The Angry Beavers have been hitting a .349 clip and lead the league in Runs scored (54). The pitching staff is holding teams to a respectable 4.29 runs per game, but have room to allow more when your team is scoring 9 runs per game!

After the sweep of the Gentlemen, the Beavers stole the National #3 rank and put themselves in First place for the first time this season.

When asked about the teams recent success, Team Captain Pat said "The ability to play as a team and not take this kids game to seriously, by running each other into the dirt.",

Pat also said " I would like to see basic knowledge of the game improve to help eliminate rookie miscues.

The Beavers next game is 6/12/08 vs. Belly Itchers @ The Township Park.
