For the Love of Fun! 6/20/08 by Brian Meyers We are only one short week away from the second Allstar Saturday. We all voted, the teams are set so let the trash talking begin! But most importantly, Congratulations to all that made it! Lots of new faces participating in this year’s specail day! Three games are slatted to be played; FunStar, Homerun Derby and the AllStar game. As always, the Allstars will get the press from the weekend festivities, but the FunStars will steal the stage! If you did not attend last years FunStar game, you missed quite simply the greatest wiffleball game played in KWL history. It featured cart wheels, bucket kicking, witty signs and the game being played the way it was originally intended; Relaxed and fun! This year will be no different. The game will be entertaining, upbeat and the longest four inning game you will see all summer! "Some of these KWL stars look forward to this day more then any other" says Mike Raber, first time NL FunStar. Amber Markley (2 time FunStar, and 2 time leading AL vote getter) looks forward to everyone playing somewhere in the outfield at the same time. "It is a little chaotic, but it is the most fun of all the innings!" So, when June 28th rolls around, be sure to pack your sunscreen, bug spray and if your a FunStar, the silly string. Share some love for those you voted as you’re representing FunStars and show up at 3pm sharp! The FunStars may be just clowns in your eyes, but they are what make the KWL fun! Make signs, bring a MegaPhone, or just simply bring a lawn chair and relax and enjoy the day!
