Meet the Tough Luck Indians.
6/20/08 by Brian Meyers |
After making the playoffs in 2007, the Indians looked to have another dazzling season in 2008, but at the half way point they find themselves five games back of first place and two games out of the third and for the final playoff spot. |
In 2007, the Indians compiled a 13-11 record and grabbed the last remaining playoff spot. They started the season with a questionably bloated roster of seven players and quickly learned it's hard to keep everyone happy and get everyone playing well. For this season, they parted ways with Pat Burnell and Justin Knecht (now of the Angry Beavers). Coming into the season, with a trimmed up five man roster, they looked better then ever to make a good clean run again at the playoffs. |

However, that has not been the case five weeks into the season. They have lost three games in the last inning and have been blown out in their other four losses. These tough luck Indians currently sit at 3-7 and in 5th place. They have only managed wins against fellow division rival, the Angry Beavers; taking three of four games. The tough draw for the Indians this season has been their schedule. In the first half, they played no games against below .500 teams. They have had to play against the league leaders and have struggled to get going early on. To their credit, they did pull of a two game sweep against the Beaver before the break. |
Heading into the second half, the Indians will kick of two of the toughest weeks of their entire schedule; July 3rd vs. the Belly Itchers and July 8th vs. The Gentlemen. These four games could make or break their chances to climb back into the playoffs.
They have not faired well against the Gentlemen, 0-6 in the last two years, but are 1-3 against the Belly Itchers.
After those two weeks, they finish with four games against the cellar dwelling StoneCutters and two games against Face and the Humans. |

Many would assume that the Indians are down on their luck, but they remain upbeat and positive; a team that is truly an asset to the league. For their struggles, they have been awarded; Jamey and Jim both made the AllStar team, and Tim Leaym let all FunStars in votes! Kudos guys!
