What to Expect on Allstar Saturday 6/19/08 by Brian Meyers It almost time to party! Only one short work week ahead to the best weekend in the KWL season. Allstar saturday will bring three events; FunStars (Starts @ 3pm), Homerun Derby (Starts @ 4pm) and the featured game of the evening, the AllStars (Starts @ 6:30pm). FunStars: Starting at 3pm, we kick off our Saturday with the great comical relief game featuring all of our favorite wifflers; the FunStars. The game will consist of 4 innings (or 1 hour). The rules for the game are simple, there are no rules! Make some up, then break em'. Be sure to have your chair and favorite beverage ready come game time. Homerun Derby: Staring at 4pm, the Homerun Derby featuring 8 of the KWL's permeire sluggers in a head to head battle for the Homerun derby championship. Homerun Derby will be called by our very own color man, Daryl Hutson from the KWL pressbox. Hot dogs will be grilled starting midway through the Homerun derby and available the rest of the evening. Please enjoy yourself! This year also marks the first charity attached to our saturday; Big Brothers and Big Sisters. We will be taking donations all day that will directly go to our local Kalamazoo Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Please give if you can! Every little bit helps. AllStars: Starting at 6:30pm, The evenings featured game, the AllStar game will begin. Players voted by their peirs will battle their opposing league for bragging rights. The game consists of 9 innings and each team will consist of 8 players.
