Most Improved Player of Year.
7/23/09 by Brian Meyers

At the end of last season, I have the honor of choosing the "Most Improved" player. Last year was the first year that we recognized a player for their improved from prior years. The 2008 winner was Just Knecht of the Angry Beavers (now Loose Nuts) and this years award was a no brainer and belongs to Lukas Pederson of the Snowsuit and Icey Road.

Lukas came into the league in 2008 as a member of Face and the Humans. Due to scheduling conflicts Lukas missed a fair share of games. At times he seemed like he would be an ok hitter, but struke out alot.

When team leader Josh Little departed for Colorado, Lukas was quick to step in and assemble his own team; The Snowsuit and Icey road. The first order of business was moving the team to Monday nights where his schedule would no longer interfer with another season of Wiffleball.

His rookie season stats were less then impressive; .196 Average (11-56) with 4 homers. However, his rookie season gave him a chance to understand the game and work on his own game in the offseason; and work on it he did! Not only has Lukas's led his team into the #2 seed of the playoffs, but he led all three American League Triple crown catagories for 10 weeks of the season (finished as the AL Batting Champ)! In 2009, Lukas finished with a .431 Average, 18 homers and 45 Rbi's. He was voted onto the 09' AL Allstars and won the American League Yellow Slugger. Quite the Improvement over his first season! Kudos Lukas.

This column would not be complete without meantioning Lukas's off the field contributions with his very own and very entertaining column, "Your's Truely.". If you have not taken the time to read and enjoy these articles you can see them here:
