Game 1,2,3,4,5 8/21/09 Township Series Recap The 2-time Defending champions look to make it a 3-peat, while the Flyin' Wildebeest returned to the Township Series for the second straight season in hopes of finding that mystical cure for the Itch. A match up of the 2008 Township Series. VS.
Game 1: Belly Itchers 10, Flyin' Wildebeest 1 F/6 W: Adam Bontrager L: Steve Scudder HR: Downs 2, VonVorst, Bontrager Out of the gates the Belly Itchers tied together a hit chain that forced in 5 runs in the top of the first frame. They then picked up right where they left off, scoring 5 more runs in the top of the second. The Wildebeest woudl get on the board after a couple of errors, which forced this game to run it's full coarse. Mike Downs, Adam Bontrager and Eric VonVorst all homered. Mike Downs was 4-7 with 2 homers and 5 Rbi's.	Bontrager throws another great game in the playoffs.
Game 2: Flyin' Wildebeest 6, Belly Itchers 0 F/6 W: Matt Kirsch L: Mike Downs HR: Matt Kirsch 2 2B: Nate Oullette The Wildebeest slammed out 4 hits and a walk in the first frame to score 3 runs, putting them in front of the Belly Itchers for the first time. Matt Kirsch took the ball for the 'Beests, and as advertised, was deceptively accurate as he struck out 7, and only game up 4 hits. Matt continued to keep the flow going as he hit 2 homeruns and drove in 4. Behind Matt's charge, the Wildies notched their first win in 10 chances against the B-Itchers.	Kirsch was a one man wrecking crew in gm2.
Game 3: Belly Itchers 10 , Flyin' Wildebeest 0 F/5 W: AJ Tate L: Pat Burnell HR: Mike Downs, Eric VonVorst 2B: AJ Tate Following the tread of the series thus far, the Vistors (this time the Itchers) scored heavily in the first frame as they plated 3 runs on a 3-run blast with 2 outs by Eric VonVorst. The Belly Itchers would tack on 4 more runs in the top of the second, on three walks and 3 well placed hits. Aj pitched 4 innings, striking out 12, while only surrendering 1 hit.	B-Itchers bats smashed the Wildes for 10 more runs.
Game 4: Fyin' Wildebeest 2 , Belly Itchers 4 F/6 W: Adam Bontrager L: Andy Ross 2B: Nate Oullette, Aj Tate With a 2-1 series lead, the B-Itchers got to see 08' Cy Wiffle winner, Andy Ross for the first time this series. Andy struggled with his control early and the Itchers forced the issue score 3 runs on 2 doubles by Aj and Nate. The early lead helped Adam Bontrager relax from the mound, as he mowed through the Wildies lineup for the second time this series. Adam only looked human once, as Kirsch drove what appeared to be a go ahead 3-run homer in the 4th, but 09' White Glove winner, Mike Downs timing the play perfectly robbed the Wildies of the potential lead and zapped the mojo that remained from the 'Beests bats.	Downs saves the game, robbing Kirsch's 3-run shot.
Game 5: Belly Itchers 13, Flyin' Wildebeest 9 F/6 W: Eric VonVorst L: Steve Scudder HR: Eric VonVorst, Pat Burnell 2B: Adam Bontrager, Aj Tate, Pat Burnell The Belly itchers put another first inning thumping on the Wildebeest, scoring 7 runs on 7 hits with Eric capping the inning with 2 out Grand Slam. The Belly Itchers continued to add on and were able to fend off a late charge by the Wildies. Pat Burnell hit a 3-run shot in the bottom of the 4th inning, but that proved to be the remaining gas in the tank. Eric 5-7, Grand slam and 7 Rbi's. This game capping off the very sucessful series and earning him the Township Series MVP!	Eric got the "w" from the hill, but earned at the plate.
The Belly Itchers win the Mullany Cup for the 3rd straight year. Commish Meyers is qouted as saying, "If you guys win it 5 times, I'll rename the cup after you!". Congratulations guys on your third championship! For those of you that have never seen the cup, it is pictured to the right!
