You throw like a Girl! |
"You thow like a Girl!" Have you ever heard that phase or perhaps you have used that phase while playing ball? We all know it's meant to mean you have a gimping throw that alot of ladies use. It's almost like they are pushing the ball, not throwing it. But what it comes down to is more often then not, girls don't |
grow up throwing or playing catch. The KWL has seen alot of good female talent since it's concepetion in 2006, but many male players continue to be "shocked" when a chick strikes them out with a fastball or rips a 3-run jack deep into the depths of the Flesher Field Mangoose. Over the last couple years, the Ladies of the KWL have really exploted with talent. In 2007, Katie Meyers managed to hit the first female homerun and in the same game took Mike Downs of the Belly Itchers deep for a second time. Katie finished the year with 4 homers. Teammate Amber Hutson (then Markley) finished that season with 3 homers of her own. Last season, Kristy Stratton stormed into the league and smacked 22 homeruns, becoming the only other person besides Bryan Jennings to knotch the 20 mark. This same season, Kristy and Andrea Wessel of the Ducks hit .429, the highest average |

recorded by a lady in the KWL. Those two averages were higher then 50% of the league.
As the league has grown, so has the increase in Co-ed teams. Last year there were only two Co-ed teams (Ducks, Transformers), but for 2009 the league has three (SIR, Weasels, Wonders). With the increase in women wifflers, the quality has also gone up. In most cases, these chicks out shine alot of the guys! Maybe time for some of the bottom feeders to get some gliter and hair spray? |
After a few years girls showing their prowess with the bat, this year features a rookie pitcher that has shown that girls can also pitch! Rookie standout, Melissa Brink is currently leading the American League in K's and certainly shows no sign of letting up. When interviewed earlier this week, Melissa said "My dad always told me that he wishes I was a boy, so I struck him out!".
This year will mark the third KWL Allstar game, and for the third straight year it's almost certain one of the teams will once again feature a pony tail or possibly pig-tails. So the next time you see someone on the field (guy or girl) with one of those strange throwing motions, don't say, "you throw like a girl". Instead say, "you suck", "you're a loser", "you can't throw at all", because if any of these ladies hear you, they may make you pay the next time play you!
