Chuckers Rein In Top Tier Free Agent. 2/3/2010

The news that top tier free agent Steve Scudder had signed with the often misunderstood Shanghi Chuckers sent a ripple of excitement through the ChuckerNation. "WOW" exclaimed Manager John Quardokus when informed of the plans by top management to go after Scudder. "The pressure was intense. By the time I was brought in to the negotiations, news had leaked to the ChuckerMedia and anything short of success would probably have ment my job." said an exhausted Quardokus. "Steve brings us the always important three Q's, Quality, Quick, with unQuestionable heart. There was a large Quantity of Quality free agents this off season. And when our Quest to reach the playoffs lead us to the occasionally Quiet Scudder, who could Quarrel with Steve's Scuddentials," said a Queasy Quardokus. "Steve brings an incredible amount of playoff experience from his Wildies days that is something we could surely use." said defensive specialist and negotiation closer Matt Quardokus. "Steve is a great player but I wonder

if he can be patient enough to get his Chucker walk Quota necessary to reach his incentive laden contract bonuses." non-Quardokus Tom Mausen added. "I won't Quibble about the walks as long as we are as successful as the Wildies, I am just hopefull Steve has been able to sow all of his Wildie oats before the season starts." said one of the Quardokus. "Do you think Steve would change his name to SQudder?" pondered a Quizzical John Quardokus
Q&A with Steve:
What made you choose the Chuckers for the 2010 season?
I've watched them play over the past two years and I see class. They are excellent at making plays. They have a lot of fun too. I think we will be a good fit.

Teams batted .280 off you last season, how many points do you think that will go down with Matt Q in Left Field?
Hopefully the rest of them. Matt and I have an agreement.

How do you feel the Chuckers will fair in 2010?
I think there is plenty of potential for the playoffs. They had a lot of close games last year. I hope I have something to add to the team.

Have you considered changing your last name to Quardokus?
That's not a bad idea. There was some talk about changing the team name to "Matt Quardokus and the Chuckers". It has a nice ring to it.
Outside Opinions:
Mason Everett, Monday Night 40's - "Since Steve lives further west than any of us, it makes the most sense to play for Shanghai. I've always loved the stories about superstar athletes doing what it takes to play closer to home. I just hope his career turns out better than Ken Griffey Jr.'s."
Travis Branch, Lemons - "I have to admit that I am disappointed that Steve didn't want to try some of our lemonade."
Daryl Hutson, Industrials - "If last years .345 average is any indication of next years batting performance by Steve, this signing will certainly bump up the Chuckers overall average.  I'm excited to see them become an even stronger team. "
Brian Meyers, Industrials - "It's nice to see a smaller market team like the Chuckers sign a quality player! They have received their lumps over the last two seasons, so now it's time for a playoff run! I think Steve will be a good fit, certainly watch for an improved 2010 Chucker team."
