A Little Bit of History Repeating. by Brian Meyers 5/9/11 |

A familiar tune rocked by Shirley Bassey and the Propellerheads in 1997 plays softly in the background. I click through the Kzoo Wiffleball website and notice the words of the song pointing out familiar trends or “History Repeating” if you will.
The 2011 Season is still young, but only three weeks deep into the summer, a lot of similar trends are starting to show again. Being a bit of a geek about numbers and trends, I felt compelled to share!

Waterfalls start 5-1: At this time one year ago, the Waterfalls also boosted a 5-1 record and led the NL South. So understandably no one inside the league seems to be shocked by their good start in 2011. History Repeating: After starting 5-1, the Waterfalls finished the rest of their season 13-9 in 2010. The next ten games after their hot start; 4-6!

Pederson’s May Struggles: 0-10 at the plate so far this May. History Repeating: Lukas’s number from May of 2010: .270 (13-48), 3 Homeruns, 12 Rbi’s and 19 SO!

Meach throttles Chuckers: In week 3, Dan Meach lit the Chuckers pitching staff up! He hit 3 Homeruns, drove in 10 Runs and scored 3 of his own. He was 5-13 at the plate during the series. History Repeating: No stranger to thumping the Chuckers, during the two games versus the Chuckers in 2010, Dan was 10-11, 4 Homeruns and 10 Rbi’s. Or 40% of his Homerun total for the year, and 37% of his Rbi’s!

Flyers start 3-1, 18 Run game: In April, the Pf Flyers went 3-1. One of the victories, they won after scoring 18 runs on 16 Walks. History Repeating: Same results in 2010; 3-1 start in April and 18 run, 11 walk win against No Big Deal. Unfortunately for the Flyers, they finished 11-11 and missed the playoffs by a good distance.
