Flyers bats are heating up! by Brian Meyers 5/31/2011

John Liberty has finally gotten off the schneid with his first two homeruns of the season, both of which came at the expensive of the Friars pitching staff and in the end cost the Friars their perfect record. “Uh-oh, Libs heating up” commented a member of the Indies from the opposite field and this is the same response that could be coming from teams lying in their path going forward!  The Pf Flyers bats are starting to come alive!

Heading into Monday nights games with the Friars, the Flyers were 5-3 overall despite an obvious lack of run production.  As a team, they entered week 7 hitting .186 and Jeremy Martin was leading the team with a .250 batting average.  Jers also had 1 of the team’s 2 homeruns!  If you subtract the 18 run game to open the season, they have only scored 10 runs or 1.42 runs per game!

Despite the lack of run production, the Flyers have managed to have a good start record wise, improving to 7-3.  The saving grace has been their AL leading pitching staff with a miniscule 1.94 team ERA.  But

more specific, their top three pitchers (Jers, Ira, Justin) have combined for a 1.07 ERA through 10 games!
