Battle for the #1 Seed and AL North. 7/27/2011

Leading the Division by two games heading into the final night of the season, the PF Flyers dropped two games to the league’s best team, the Belly Itchers.  The two 1-0 losses, combined with two wins on the adjacent field by the Industrials forced the Division Crown and #1 seed to came down to a tie breaker.

First Tie Breaker – Record against.  Tied at 2-2
Second Tie Breaker – Record against Division opponents. Tied at 9-3
Third Tie Breaker – Record against American League. Indies 16-4 (.800), Flyers 17-5 (.772).

The result of the Tie Breaker gives the Industrials their 4th Division Title, second in two years.  The PF Flyers, will fall into the 3rd Seed, while the AL South Division (Friars) winner will assume the #2 position.  Currently the Friars have 3 games pending and could finish as high as 20-8, although the Indies hold the first tie breaker (record against) which would leave them as the Friars as the #2 seed. The Friars also hold the first tie breaker (record against) over the Gentlemen if the Friars were to end up with a tied record.
The Friars will be playing two games against the Playoff hopeful Diablos tonight at Flesher Field.
