ALDS Recap. GTM vs. IND

With the annual playoff heat back to end another summer of wiffleball, the Gentlemen and Industrials would show down for the second straight season in the ALDS. Both teams short on players but ready to duke it out, would showdown in a three game series with the losing team's wiffleball season ending.

Game 1:
Gentlemen 0 , Industrials 9 F/6 Box

L: Kyle Hess
HR: Brian Meyers 2

Kyle Hess worked quickly through the first two innings before running into some issues in the home half of the 3rd. Kyle would walk two batters before Brian Meyers would hit his first of two homeruns, a three run shot. The Industrials came right back in the 4th to extend the lead to 8, on a Meyers Grand Slam and Kean RBI walk. With a hefty lead, Brian foudn his stride on the mound striking out 15 and only allowing 4 hits.

Meyers drove in 8 of the Industrials 9 runs in Gm1.

Game 2:
Industrials 11, Gentlemen 8F/6 Box

HR: Brian Meyers 3, Bryan Jennings, Tony Pedrolini 2, and Kyle Hess 2

In game 2, the Industrials led off the game in a fury scoring 6 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks, including Meyers's 2nd Grand Slam of the evening. In the 2nd, they would tack on two more when Meyers hit his 2nd homer of the game and 3 more in the 4th off his 3rd longball. With hopes of a mercy in site, the Indies carried an 11-1 lead into the 4th. Hess quickly nulified the mercy with a laser beam homer to left, which would open up the flood gates for the Gents to make a late charge. They would rally for 7 runs in the 4th and 5th, cutting the lead to 3, before Kean managed to retire the side in the 6th to secure the sweep.

Daryl Hutson just misses robbing Tony's Grand Slam.

Advancing to the Championship round for the sixth straight season, the Industrials will now face-off with the PF Flyers in a best of 3 format at Flesher Field.  The games begin Thursday August 11th.
