Schaaf earns Most Improved. by Brian Meyers 9/7/2011

Starting in 2008, I have had the honor of selecting a player for the Most Improved Player award.  You would think it would be a tough choice each season, but every year since 2008, the Most Improved Player stands out like a sore thumb! This year, it’s my honor to present the award to Kirk Schaaf of the Kentucky Waterfalls!

During a season that was dominated by pitching, Kirk managed to improve every single one of his offensive numbers.  He increased his average 78 points to .301, hit 7 more Homeruns for a total of 9, score 28 runs and drove in nearly 3 times as many baserunners for a total of 30 Rbi’s!

With the Waterfalls offense struggling all season long, Kirk filled a big need.  He was consistent against good teams and ranks no worse than 3rd in every offensive category on the team. Which certainly aided in the Waterfalls winning their first ever division title!

Kirk's 2010 Numbers: .223 BA, 27 Hits, 2 Homeruns, 20 Runs, 11 RBI, .273 Slg%
Kirk's 2011 Numbers: .301 BA, 34 Hits, 9 Homeruns, 28 Runs, 30 RBI, .558 Slg%
